White PDA Christmas

Publicado por Darío Pescador el 23 diciembre, 2004 - 20:36 Comentar

Hold tight, Christmas is here! Indigestions, hangovers, crowds, traffic jams, noises, family reunions and a shivering bank account. Unless you retire to a Tibetan monastery, there is no way out, but these programs can make your holidays more bearable. Enyoy yourself.

Christmas Countdown

Christmas Countdown counts down the remaining days, hours, minutes and seconds to Christmas. As if we wish so! Perfectly useless, but just 4 Kb and free. Who can ask for anything more?

Diet Organizer

A new year, twenty more pounds. Excesses are inherent to winter holidays since the Neolitic. Who are we to contradict thousands of years of history?

If your blessed innocence makes you try again this year, Diet Organizer for Palm OS y for Pocket PC is halfway between a dieting calculator and Jiminy Cricket. Based on your Body Mass Index (anything that's not fat) it turns out our daily food requirements. It also calculates the calorie and nutrient amounts in the food we take, how much we have burnt by exercising (hahaha) and plots some charts.

Treo 600 Holiday Theme Ringtones

Happy Treo 600 owners can easily prompt others to drop them in a public fountain, naked and drunk; they just have to use Treo 600 Holiday Theme Ringtones, a collection of Christmas ringtones including "All I Want for Christmas", "Jingle Bells", "Oh Tannenbaum", plus 30 other tunes.

Fireworks

If you're too old (or too life-beaten) to roam the streets with firecrackers, rockets and other funny explosives, Fireworks is a fireworks simulator, a digital replacement, in color and free for your Palm. For 2,99$, you can also have it for Pocket PC

Christmas Giftbox

Christmas' more fearsome consequence are not the spare tyres in your belly, but next January black hole in your credit card. With X'mas Giftbox you can manage your Christmas gifts, keep tabs on still not-purchased items, listing which cards we must send, and of course, how much have we spent for each recipient. You can create many categories for relatives and friends, and filter results for each category. Freeware. If you need even more gift management options, please click here

Blood Alcohol Level

Useful in any season, but essential after the winter solstice orgies, Blood Alcohol Level (para Palm y para PPC) calculates your blood alcohol level, based on how much you have drunk, how strong it was, and how much you weigh. It even displays how many hours remain until you get sober (i.e. having a hangover) The full version costs only 1,99$, which is peanuts when compared to a traffic ticket.

Christmas Carols and Songs Glossary

"Yingel bels yingel bels yingel oldeuey, niano, niano.." Don't you know the lyrics to the Christmas songs your nephews are singing? You will find all of them in this Christmas Carols Glossary (in English). The file requires Bdicty, a dictionary viewer for Palm OS and for PPC, among other devices, with hundreds of applications: from Spanish, French or Turkish dictionaries, to acronyms, wines and the interpretation of dreams. The basic version is free, while the Pro version costs 10$.

Snow Baller

A snowball-throwing game is a good antidote for the stress caused by traffic jams and shopping crowds. Even better if your targets are Santa Claus' evil elves. In Snow Baller you control your crosshairs tapping on the screen, and balls are shot pressing any button. A monumental defect: you can't shot Santa's sled.

Catch the presents

Greed is is the essence of Christmas, as Dickens told us so well. That's the reason why a simple game as Catch the presents, where you must catch presents using some socks, is so addictive. By default, the socks are controlled using the cursor, but you can configure your own set of control keys.

OmniRemote Pro

This classic application from Pacific Neo-Tek can transform your handheld into an universal remote control, using the PDA's infrared transmitter. Essential when somebody tries to watch Oprah after dinner.

You can set as many buttons as you like on the PDA screen, and assign the function codes of the original remote to them. Omniremote's older version runs in black and white, but it's free. There is a new colour version for 25$, including screen wallpaper, bitmap buttons and more bells and whistles.
