La tecnología es, sin duda, demasiado difícil de utilizar. Los diseñadores ignoran demasiado a menudo que los seres humanos tenemos limitaciones, y ello da lugar a errores. Con el fin de llamar la atención sobre el problema, hoy se celebra el Día Mundial de la Usabilidad, una jornada para promover el diseño centrado en el usuario, en favor de una vida más fácil.
Diversas instituciones y organismos han convocado actividades al respecto en todo el mundo. Entre los actos convocados en España destacaremos tres:
- La Gimkana de la Usabilidad organizada por la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, en Barcelona, en la que equipos de 3 a 4 personas han de superar una serie de pruebas, alrededor de una merienda.
- La Noche Temática, entre las 20 y las 23 h en el Instituto Canario de Telecomunicaciones de Las Palmas
- El WUD Zaragoza, a partir de las 17:00, donde se comentarán experiencias de usabilidad relacionadas con la administración local. El acto se retransmite en directo a través de la red.
Con ocasión de la jornada, la Biblioteca Virtual de la UOC ha publicado un dossier monográfico sobre usabilidad, que recoge recursos electrónicos (revistas, blogs, webs, listas) al tema.
En el ámbito de los dispositivos móviles, en CanalPDA nunca nos cansaremos de insistir en que no importan las prestaciones de un equipo, si el diseño del mismo no facilita su manejo.
