Mobile Complete’s TryPhone™ Gives Consumers the Power to “Try Before they Buy” Through a Fully-Interactive Program

Barcelona, Mobile World Congress, February 10th, 2008 – Mobile Complete – the world’s leading provider of mobile application testing, monitoring and support solutions for mobile devices and applications –today launched a new interactive Web program dubbed “TryPhone,” which contains fully-functional, virtual phones designed specifically for mobile consumers. TryPhone allows users to test-drive mobile devices online before purchasing. Consumers can access the site, by going to www.tryphone.com.

Through the TryPhone Web service, individuals have access to a variety of phones on which they can press buttons, run programs, and truly experience and compare different handsets. The service also allows consumers to read reviews, watch demos and compare different devices. A free service, TryPhone serves not only to educate consumers about the different handsets and features available in the marketplace, but also promotes a simpler, less stressful purchasing experience. Mobile consumers will no longer be burdened with long retail lines and phone replicas that aren’t true to form.

Unlike flash-based or other emulation programs, TryPhone handsets leverage Mobile Complete’s award-winning DeviceAnywhere™ Direct-to-Device™ technology, which provides mobile application developers with remote access to more than 1,000 real mobile handsets connected to live networks which are accessible over the Internet. To develop the TryPhone virtual devices, Mobile Complete built an automatic crawler that scans each DeviceAnywhere handset and creates a blueprint of all the pathways on the phones. These pathways are then leveraged to create fully interactive, virtual phones and respective applications.

“Historically, going to a store and purchasing a cell phone has been an unpleasant process for consumers who are faced with pushy salespeople and little opportunity to test devices,” said Mobile Complete CEO Faraz Syed. “So, after several years of serving the developer community, we realized the growing number of self service oriented consumers in need of a more convenient interactive purchasing experience. In response we launched TryPhone, which is a natural extension of our proven, widely renowned DeviceAnywhere service. TryPhone’s goal is to empower consumers to make educated decisions when choosing phones right for them, as well as helping them to understand how to take advantage of all the cool features available on today’s devices. Plus, it enables consumers to take complete control of the purchasing process, without ever having to step foot in a store.”

This launch marks the initial phase of the TryPhone Europe service, featuring the LG Prada and Nokia N95. Phones will be continuously added to the portfolio on a weekly basis.
