Ordinarily, 8 megapixels is overkill in a digital camera. Those enormous files (two to four megabytes each) fill up your memory card very quickly, take forever to transfer to your computer, and bog down your editing software. Fortunately, each of the four camera makers in this roundup backed up that 8-megapixel sensor with excellent lenses and circuitry. All four take spectacular pictures.
