How to replace the screen on a Palm Treo 650 pda/phone. Doing it yourself will save about $100. Screens are available on E-Bay! (NOTE!! The desk this was performed on has a metal base, not top. This fact, combined with me wearing shorts during the filming, means I was grounded. MAKE SURE YOU ARE GROUNDED before opening your Treo. ESD straps are CHEAP and available at any Radio Shack or electronics dealer worth more then 2 pence)
i had a 650 bonded to verison that was given to me because the keyboard was unresponsive....i couldn't use it because my service is att.....i bought an att 650 on ebay for 20 bucks with a cracked screen.....used your vid to swap the screens and i've got a perfectly working 650 and i'm just ecstatic with it....thanx much..
Hey! That was quick!! There is a ring on the lens. The left side of the camera has a black 1/2 circle. I think its one of the rubber "washers" that sits on the lens, but I can't get it to stay out of the way when I put the phone back together. There is one thick rubber washer that sits on top of the lens between it and the camera. I was thinking of just removing that but then there would be no cushion between the lens and the little metal bracket that sits on top of it.
It's the rubber washer that, at first, I forgot to put back in my Treo in the video. You'll just have to find a way to keep the Treo face down while you put the back cover on. This will not allow it to come up and off of the camera lens.
I did and worked. You saved the day and my Treo. Kudos.
