(TSX: ICS), a leading provider of software solutions for mobile devices, today announced they are working together to bring 3.5G functionality to the MIPS architecture. The companies are porting Intrinsyc’s RapidRIL software to the MIPS architecture in order to accelerate mobile SoC development for MIPS licensees around the globe. At the upcoming Mobile World Congress being held February 15-18 in Barcelona, the companies plan to demonstrate 3.5G voice calls with audio and video playback on a MIPS-BasedTM AndroidTM platform.

Madrid 16 de febrero de 2010: Huawei, proveedor líder de soluciones de red de telecomunicaciones de última generación para operadoras de todo el mundo, ha presentado el primer smartphone Android HSPA+ del mundo, en el Mobile World Congress en Barcelona. El Smartphone U8800 estará comercialmente disponible en el tercer trimestre de 2010 y soporta acceso a Internet de alta velocidad, siendo más veloz que los smartphones 3G actuales.

U8800 utiliza el sistema operativo de Android 2.1 y cuenta con capacidades HSPA+ para soportar velocidades de descarga de hasta 14 Mb/s. Esta velocidad permite a los usuarios descargar 400Mb de una película en treinta segundos. El smartphone contará con una pantalla de 3.8 pulgadas de ancho, permitiendo a los usuarios tener un amplio campo de visión y permitiéndoles sacar el máximo provecho de una multitud de características y aplicaciones de Internet.
